Our roadways in this area are already a hazard for the typical driver, especially Stamp Creek Road. Affected roadways (aside from major highways) are almost all winding, narrow, hilly, two-lane roads with extremely limited visibility in both directions. Gravel trucks are up to 20 times heavier than the average SUV. Risk of collision is already high on these small, winding roads.
With the increase in gravel trucks from this proposed quarry, there will likely be an increase in collision frequency and severity.
In addition to risk, there is also the added concern of longer travel times. Congesting small roads with dangerous slow-moving gravel trucks increases commute times. Emergency Vehicle response times will increase due to these heavier traffic patterns as well.
Stamp Creek Road
Bells Ferry Road
Old Furnace Road
Holly Springs Road
Cass White Road
Hwy 411
Hwy 140
Hwy 75
Some of these roads are secondary and were not mentioned in the traffic study but will interfere with traffic.
This puts our community at risks. Think of all the school buses and new drivers that will travel these roads with 500 extra vehicles.
Please see he proposal for traffic in the documents section.
